Der Turm

Im Golf von Follonica Torre Mozza ist unschwer an dem namensgebenden Turm zu erkennen, der direkt am Wasser steht. Ein wenig deplatziert wirkt das um 1500 errichtete, klobige Bauwerk, als Verteidigungspunkt der damaligen etruskischer Küste.

Die alte römische Strasse

Das Meer ist hier durch zwei unterschiedliche Tiefen gekennzeichnet. Eine alte Römerstraße liegt etwa 10 Meter von der Küste entfernt, sie ist ein Teil der antiken Aurelia-Straße. Das ist die Einzigartigkeit dieses schönen Strandes, wo man den Eindruck hat, in einem natürlichen Schwimmbad zu tauchen.

Wie man Torre Mozza erreicht

Torre Mozza liegt ca. 3 km nördlicher von Follonica. Auf der Autobahn, die Grosseto mit Livorno (SS1) verbindet, soll man die Ausfahrt Follonica Nord nehmen, Richtung Torre Mozza, auf der Strada Provinciale Aurelia Vecchia SP39 und von dort den Hinweisen für Torre Mozza folgen.
