Isola del Giglio
Isola del Giglio

Some days to discover the beauties of the island

The second largest island of the Tuscan archipelago, where you can visit the three small villages of Giglio Porto, Giglio Castello and Campese. Giglio Porto is the main docking hub of the island and a picturesque village resting on terraced grounds cultivated for grapevines. Higher up you’ll find Giglio Castello, the old fortified town, where the high perimeter walls with watchtowers are still visible, and which lead you into the heart of the historic center.
Here you can have a pleasant walk through alleys topped with arches, stairs and underpasses dug out of the rock, until you reach the Rocca. The last of the three villages is Campese, the most touristic, where the small bay of fine golden sand sticks out overlooked by an imposing tower.

An authentic place for those seeking a unique vacation

The island is located in front of the Argentario promontory and easily reached from Porto Santo Stefano in only an hour. Once arrived you’ll be immersed in a spectacular landscape, a turquoise sea whose depths host a varied underwater world, and in the spring and summer it’s not rare to see fin and sperm whales.
Dolphins too have chosen these quiet waters to pass through, ready to follow the boats that transit along the length of the island, a unique spectacle. The spectacle continues on solid ground with the many paths, most to be travelled by foot, some by bike, some challenging and others relatively simple and once you’ve reached the panoramic view you’ll have the breathtaking spectacle of the entire Tuscan archipelago in front of you.

The island for your next vacation

The landscapes, the sea, the cliffs and hidden bays, the beaches of fine golden sand, the characteristic villages, the small harbor ready to welcome you for an unforgettable vacation. Several days of vacation, surrounded by a wild and authentic nature, you’ll experience truly special moments.
The peace and quiet of life, in discovery of good food, you can try excellent dishes, prepared with simple and high quality ingredients. Above all there’s the fish-based dishes to be accompanied by one of the excellencies of the region, the Ansonica, a white wine of the highest quality.
