Die San Galgano Abtei ist eine <strong>gotische<\/strong> <strong>Kathedrale<\/strong>,\u00a0ein Meisterwerk der <strong>zisterziensischen Architektur<\/strong>, die nur ein paar Gehminuten unterhalb des H\u00fcgels liegt.<br \/>\nIn ihrer N\u00e4he findet man auch die romanisch-kreisf\u00f6rmige <strong>Kirche<\/strong> \u201eLa Rotonda\u201c, die nach <strong>San Galgano<\/strong>\u00a0gewidmet wurde. Der Heilige ist ein Ritter aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, der auf diesem H\u00fcgel f\u00fcr ein Leben der\u00a0Einsiedelei und des Gebets zur\u00fcckgezogen ist.<\/p>\n<h3>Ein Schwert im Fels<\/h3>\n<p>In der nahegelegenen Einsiedlerei von Montesiepi gibt es aber eine au\u00dfergw\u00f6hnliche Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeit. Ein\u00a0<strong>Schwert<\/strong>, welches in einem Stein feststeckt ist. Nach der Legende h\u00f6rte der Ritter eine engelhafte Stimme,\u00a0die ihn zur Spitze des H\u00fcgels f\u00fchrte und empfahl ihm sein s\u00fcndiges Leben aufzugeben. Was bis dahin als\u00a0Mittel des Todes war, wurde dann ein Mittel zur Bu\u00dfe. Daher wird San Galgano auf die keltischen Mythos\u00a0von <strong>K\u00f6nig Artus<\/strong> und dem Schwert im Fels verbunden.<\/p>\n<h3>Die Zauberai von\u00a0San Galgano<\/h3>\n<p>Die <strong>Abtei von San Galgano<\/strong> bl\u00fchte bis 1768, als der Glockenturm und die meisten Gew\u00f6lbe der Kirche\u00a0einst\u00fcrzten. Die gro\u00dfe Struktur mit ihren Mauern perfekt erhalten ist ein mystisch, magischer Ort geblieben.<\/p>\n<h3>Wie man San Galgano erreicht<\/h3>\n<p>Fast eine Stunde von Grosseto und eine halbe Stunde von Siena entfernt, ist San Galgano aus der Maremma\u00a0leicht zu erreichen. Von Grosseto aus soll man die SS223 Grosseto-Siena nehmen und bis zur Ausfahrt San\u00a0Lorenzo a Merse weiterfahren.
